How to get started with RiskTree

We’re here to help you get started with this powerful, agile risk analysis tool. Getting started can feel daunting, but don’t worry – we’ve created a short series of bite-sized videos and downloadable PDFs to help get you up and running. Each section focuses on a specific aspect of RiskTree, so you can learn at your own pace, revisit topics as needed and build a solid foundation to build increasingly complex RiskTrees.

You’ll soon have mastered risk analysis with RiskTree and will have total clarity on your organisation’s risks!

1. Building your first RiskTree

Using the accessible scenario of ‘Stealing Artwork from a Museum’, we’ll show you how to build your first RiskTree. You’ll then be able to apply the learning to your own risk assessments.

And please don't forget to save your RiskTree if you need to revisit it!

2. putting on the Risks

In our second video we’re putting the risks onto our RiskTree framework. This process also highlights where you might want to involve other team members to input their expertise.

And please don't forget to save your RiskTree if you need to revisit it!

3. Adding assessment values

In this video, we’ll explore how we use assessment vales and apply them to RiskTree.

We look at assessment values from the perspective of the attacker – what might the costs, complexity, consequences, and rewards be? And from the perspective of the asset or company – what is the level of damage and replay?

Additionally, we’ll show you our commenting features which provides a record for compliance.

And please don't forget to save your RiskTree if you need to revisit it!

4. Applying countermeasures

In our final video we’ll add countermeasures and calculate risks.

We can easily show our intrinsic risks (what our risks look like without countermeasures), residual risks (what our risks look like when we apply countermeasures) and finally we can apply target countermeasures – demonstrating the impact of actions we may wish to take in the future.
