Celebrating the CyberFirst Girls Competition: Empowering Future Cyber Talent

Tony Beadle

This weekend marks a highlight in the cyber security calendar—the CyberFirst Girls Competition Awards. For the third consecutive year, we at 2T Security are proud to sponsor the East Midlands prize. Although we’re a small company, we’re deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of cyber professionals. And, we are delighted to play our part in supporting the National Cyber Security Centre in their mission to get more women into careers in cyber.

The CyberFirst Girls Competition

The CyberFirst Girls Competition aims to inspire girls interested in technology to explore careers in cyber security. Each team of up to four girls—Year 8 in England and Wales, S2 in Scotland, or Year 9 in Northern Ireland—works collaboratively on a range of challenges. From cryptography and logic to artificial intelligence and networking, these challenges are designed to spark curiosity, build technical knowledge, and boost confidence in tech.

Beyond national recognition, every girl from the winning teams will receive a brand-new laptop and the opportunity to win prize money for their school. We can’t wait to announce the names of this year’s East Midlands winners and celebrate their hard-earned achievements. More importantly, we believe the impact of these awards extends well beyond the prizes: the competition provides an invaluable platform for young women to discover their potential and pursue further opportunities in cyber security.

International Women’s Day

It’s especially fitting that this year’s awards coincide with International Women’s Day, a global moment dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in all fields. By championing initiatives like the CyberFirst Girls Competition, we hope to inspire even more girls to consider careers in technology—helping to create a more diverse, inclusive, and innovative cyber security sector for the future.

Stay tuned for our follow-up post where we’ll share the names of our East Midlands winners and highlight their incredible journey in this year’s competition. For now, join us in applauding every participant who took on these challenges, demonstrated remarkable teamwork, and showcased the limitless potential of the next generation of cyber talent.
