Introducing new and improved RiskTree.
By Tony Badsey-Ellis
The team has just deployed an updated version of RiskTree. For the uninitiated, RiskTree is a risk assessment platform that enables users to create attack trees to evaluate risks, implement countermeasures, and assess impacts before any work is carried out or investment is made. The team has revamped the RiskTree user interface and updated the help pages accordingly. It’s not just about the visual appearance. The team has also enhanced the functionality of the pop-up menus to improve the user experience.
The main changes are:
The node editor now consolidates node values, notes, countermeasures, and metadata in a single window with tabs for different information types. This change aims to improve efficiency in creating and editing nodes and associating them with their countermeasures.
A tag set for ISO27001: 2022 has been added. This is a significant update from the previous 2013 version, and it is now available for Plus account users within the Tag Manager. The 2013 version remains accessible for users who still require it.
“Natural hazards” has been renamed “Hazards” to reflect its usage better. This name change addresses instances where the term was used for non-natural hazards, such as system misconfigurations.
Changes to the Risk Summary screen include removing fractional values from the horizontal bar chart and adding a note if the target risks change in a tree with countermeasure confidence set due to the target confidence reaching 100%.
